** RRCONFIG The RaLin Reader Configuration **
NOTE: This is not an in-depth manual for RRCONFIG, as you only have a demo
version of the program. When you receive your registered version, you will
receive another manual, with full in-depth explanantions!
RRCONFIG.EXE is the standalone program for configuring the editor used,
and the readers colors. I don't figure everyone will like the default
colors.<BIG GRIN>
The version of RRCONFIG you have received is a DEMO version, named
CFGDEMO.EXE, it is identical to the working copy except that it will NOT
save the changes you make.
The FULLY working copy is what you receive with the registered version of
The RaLin Reader.
But this DEMO copy will let you try out the color changes and see how they
will look in the program. You may also edit the editor name, and printer
control strings.
The top part of the screen is where you edit all the configuration values.
The lower section has a listing of the command keys available to you.
And in between is a HELP line, it will display a line of text telling you
what each field is for, as you cursor through them.
A little more informative Help Screen is available with a F1 keypress.
When RRCONFIG starts up it searches for an existing RRSET.CFG file. If
found it will display all values as found in that file. If not found, the
display and editor name will be listed using the built-in defaults, which
are the same as those used in the reader program. This file is looked for
first in the current directory, then in all directories listed in your
path.
You may have multiple configuration files. The file is saved to whatever
directory you are in when you call RRCONFIG. RRCONFIG.EXE should be placed
in a directory that is in your Dos PATH statement, this way you can call it
from "any" directory on your hard drive. This is what allows you to have
multiple configuration files.
You are placed in the first field. The Up and Down arrow keys will move you
from field to field. If you wish to edit the field, press F9 or ENTER.
This will place you in EDIT mode for that field. If you need to see a chart
of the color values you may enter, press F2.
NOTE: You must press F2 to view the color chart BEFORE you go into edit
mode. When the clor chart is on screen, pressing any key will put it away.
The color values are shown in their corresponding colors. It is these
numbers you enter for the color you wish.
At any time during configuration, pressing F5 will re-display the reader
representation using the colors as they are currently entered.
A note on the Blinking status color. The color you choose will be
automatically adjusted to create the blinking forground. If you want bright
yellow on red, then enter 79. RRCONFIG will set the yellow to blinking
automatically.
You will not be able to enter a value less than 1 or greater than 127.
When you are editing a color value or the editor name, the editing keys are
the same as in the reader program, but we will list them here again.
Editing keys are -
DeleteKey - Delete character at the cursor.
LeftArrow - Nondestructive move cursor to the left.
RightArrow - Nondestructive move cursor to the right.
End - Move cursor to end of input string.
Home - Move cursor to start of input string.
Backspace - Delete character to the left of cursor.
Ins - Toggles insert mode, cursor changes to block.
Enter/Return - Accepts value as entered.
Esc - Exits Edit mode and leaves value unchanged.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When entering the Printer Command codes for ALT-1,2,3 you must be sure to
abide by these simple rules: NO space at the beginning, ONE space between
each code, you MUST use DECIMAL numbers, no Hex or Characters for printer
codes. These codes can be found in your printer manual. Last but not least,
NO space at the end of the code string. Examples are given in the RRCONFIG
Help Screen, press F1.
When you are done changing color values in RRCONFIG, press the
END key. If any changes have been made you will be asked if you want to
save these changes. Pressing 'Y' =or= ENTER will save the changes to the
configuration file RRSET.CFG This file is saved in the directory you were
in when you fired up RRCONFIG.
If you only wish to have 1 config file for the Reader, then RRSET.CFG
should be placed in a directory that is in your path statement,
so it can be found by the reader on startup. Again, as mentioned earlier,
you may have multiple configuration files.
RRCONFIG is a simple program, and really self-explanatory. You should have
no problem giving The RaLin Reader your own "special touch".
As features are added to the reader, RRCONFIG will be expanded to
accomodate the configuration of the new features.
